El embarcadero - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Episode 1
Architect Alex is in seventh heaven after winning the contract for a skyscraper for a British real estate investment company. When her husband Oscar, who spends half his week in Frankfurt as an investment banker, hears the great news, he is overjoyed for his wife. Alex‘ eyes swell with joy when he suggests they finally have a baby together. Which is why Alex cannot believe it when the Police call her in the middle of the night to tell her they have found Oscar's car on a pier in the nearby Albufera national park with a body inside.

Episode 2
Though she is truly needed on the skyscraper contract, which is her "baby" she fought for for so long, Alex heads back to the Albufera, to this strangely and wildly attractive other woman, introducing herself again as an ornithologist, doing bird studies there. Veronica likes this young woman and, perhaps to soothe her own sudden loneliness, invites her to rent the upstairs room.

Episode 3
A true and deep friendship begins to take shape between Alex and Veronica, who is still oblivious to "Martina's" true identity. Alex, on the other side, sees no other way to get to the bottom of who her husband really was, but by this necessary charade. A charade made even harder for Alex when she befriends Veronica's daughter Sol, and vice versa. Alex sees much of Oscar in Sol, so how could she not open her heart to the little girl.

Episode 4
By spending more and more time in the Albufera with Veronica and Sol, Alex delves deeper and deeper into Oscar's former life. Veronica confides to Alex how her pregnancy with Sol took her and Oscar's relationship to a new, almost existential level given how the consequences of having a child together would affect their future lives. At the very least, if the relationship didn't hold, Veronica would be left with the living reminder of it in Sol: a confession that tests Alex to the core, for it is exactly such a reminder of Oscar she has been left without, given their decision to abort 8 years ago due to Alex‘ then skyrocketing career.

Episode 5
Coming home one day, Alex notices that Veronica's house has been broken into. Inspector Conrado and Veronica notice, however, that no valuables have been taken. Sensing that the break-in has something to do with Oscar's death, Conrado suspects Vincent, the local fisherman and friend of Veronica and Oscar. For, in a last voicemail on Oscar's cellphone before he died, it is Vincent asking Oscar for an urgent meeting.

Episode 6
Alex heads back to Valencia and locks herself in her apartment. She begins deconstructing her past architectural concept for the skyscraper and starts working on an all new, much more modern and flexible approach for the design of the building. In the Albufera, after the break-in into Veronica's house and after mysterious transactions turn up on Oscar's account, Oscar's death starts to look less and less like suicide rather than homicide. And finally, after Conrado has discarded the medication he was prescribed after the death of his own wife, he seems ready to confront whatever odds there be to help Alex find the true cause of her husband's death.

Episode 7
Conrado follows up on his suspicion that Vicent has something to do with Oscar's death due to the last message he left on his voicemail. Indeed, Vicent was hiding money for Oscar, but he contends he had nothing to do with Oscar's death. Alex and Conrado develop true sympathy for one another, after all, they both lost their spouses to untimely deaths. But Oscar's death is much too recent and unsolved for Alex to want more.

Episode 8
Conrado lets Alex and Veronica know that a key is missing from Oscar's key chain and was probably stolen during the break-in and that he believes Oscar was killed. He suspects a connection between the break-in and Oscar's transactions in the last months before his death and the fact that Oscar was seen getting drunk the night he died.
