Episode 1
Rosie's college dreams are dashed when her parents are forced to sell their fancy restaurant and settle for a run-down diner. Rosie disdains El Toro, where she'll have to work to help support her family.

Episode 2
Rosie falls for Will, a young client. Georgette is traumatized by an incident at El Toro and keeps it a secret. Viv is shocked when she reads a letter intended for Rey.

Episode 3
Rosie begins a long-distance relationship with Will, who has left for college in the United States. Georgette tries to recover from her trauma. Viv experiences a difficult loss and sinks into depression. In her mother's absence, Rosie takes on more responsibilities at El Toro. She realizes the power of words when she writes a story that brings her parents closer together.

Episode 4
Rosie finds things moving too fast with Will and questions what she wants. She begins her first year at college and tries to get her feminist messages across in the student newspaper. Despite Viv's racism, Georgette secretly dates a young Métis, Napoléon. Rey dreams of climbing the social ladder.

Episode 5
Rosanne and Will have a sexual relationship that threatens to have consequences for Rosie's career, who is offered a junior summer job as a reporter at the Winnipeg Free Press. Rey dreams of joining his brother Jerry who is rebuilding his life out West. Georgette confides in Nap about her assault. A family tragedy overwhelms the Charbonneau family.

Episode 6
Viv and Rey leave the El Toro to Rosie and Georgette and head out West to work with Jerry. Georgette ignores her mother's opinion of Nap and follows her heart. Faced with an almost impossible choice, Rosie sticks to her guns and makes a decision that will determine her future.
