Matthew takes Terry for a night out, but after getting him uncontrollably drunk, Matthew carries him home where Terry passes out on the sofa. Taking advantage of the situation, Matthew and Louise head upstairs, but when Val hears noises she investigates the situation and discovers their affair. Meanwhile, Andy is forced to put an end to his relationship with Libby in order to face up to his responsibilities. Despite his best efforts to do the right thing, Andy feels he can’t win when Robert fumes over the baby's name and Tamsin shouts at him over his treatment of her sister. Elsewhere, having lied to Eric about planning a birthday party for him, Val desperately tries to think of ways to organise something at short notice. Realising that none of the villagers wants to spend an evening with the local con artist, she begins to panic.
