Four young Swedish soldiers, Strand, Forss, Babic, and Kilpinen, are taken hostage by militias during their UN mission in Bosnia. The peacekeeping force's priority is now to free them and bring them home safely. Six months earlier: Four young Swedish soldiers risk their lives to secure peace in Bosnia as UN peacekeepers. The UN's first objective is to open the Mario Road in the Tuzla Canton so that supply convoys can reach the civilian population. In the process, the young Swedes' unit comes under fire. Meanwhile, Eldin, a young father from the Bosnian Muslim community, tries to get medicine for his sick daughter. This proves even more difficult than expected, as the villages are now controlled by Serb units. Muharem, the cook at the UN camp, and his daughter Alma are also having a tough time...

Avsnitt 2
The four Swedish soldiers Forss, Babic, Strand, and Kilpinen attempt to open the Mario Road and are shot at. Their squad leader Johansson is killed. A difficult time begins for the young soldiers. Forss is appointed the new squad leader by Colonel Andreasson. Is the young diplomat candidate up to the task? Meanwhile, the village of Stupni Do is attacked by the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), and smoke can be seen in the distance. The squad led by Forss is sent out to assess the situation. But the Croatian Bosnians have set up roadblocks and are denying them access to the village... Tensions between the various parties are high.

Avsnitt 3
After the attack on Stupni Do, Colonel Andreasson and his battalion fear the worst when they learn that the HVO is holding Muslim men captive in a school. Alma's father, Muharem, has also been arrested by the HVO, and she is now trying to rescue him with the help of the UN troops. She manages to send Strand a note with a message. Unfortunately, this does not go unnoticed. And so Alma and her mother are pressured and harassed by HVO soldiers in their apartment. Strand wants to do everything he can to save Alma and her family and even ignores orders, putting his troop leader, Forss, in a difficult position. They are forced to withdraw. When all seems lost, the order comes to hold the position in front of the school. Will the Swedish soldiers be able to free Alma's father and the other Muslim men?

Avsnitt 4
Life at Camp Valhalla continues: Babic is the new troop commander, Forss has been invited to an interview for the Swedish diplomatic program, Kilpinen is spiraling deeper into his morphine addiction, and Strand is falling in love with Alma. The young UN soldiers have been given a day off by Colonel Andreasson. Most of them are playing soccer, but Strand prefers to go swimming with Alma. They drive to a lake, and it seems as if time stands still. But the war rages on, and civilians of various backgrounds are being harassed and bullied. Colonel Andreasson has to negotiate with all sides, which he clearly doesn't like. The negotiations prove more difficult than expected.

Avsnitt 5
The four young soldiers Strand, Forss, Babic, and Kilpinen have an accident with their armored vehicle. Kilpinen, completely exhausted, drives into a ditch. On the night road, they become easy prey for the Chetniks and are taken hostage. The UN's goal is now to get the four young soldiers back safely. But unfortunately, things aren't looking good. The Chetniks' demands contradict the values and goals of the UN, and Colonel Andreasson cannot comply, even when Forss's father, as Foreign Minister, exerts pressure. The Chetniks are not only holding the four soldiers captive, but also other civilians. Starvation and torture are commonplace. Babic's Serbian-Swedish background proves helpful. He is able to make initial contact with the kidnappers. But will that be enough?

Avsnitt 6
Imprisonment was hard for each of the four young soldiers. Strand has nightmares. Kilpinen has to live with the consequences of his actions. He is terrified that he will soon no longer be part of the troops and the UN battalion, because he can no longer imagine life as a civilian. When the four have to testify, Kilpinen asks his comrades to keep his confession to themselves. But the hearing will have consequences for everyone. Forss now finally has the opportunity to enter the diplomatic program he has dreamed of for so long. His father Erland is overjoyed to hold his son alive in his arms and to finally be able to bring him away from the Balkans. Strand dreams of a civilian life with Alma in Sweden.
