James and Kacie are two strangers brought together by their shared fortune of being selected for ""Extreme Makeover."" They become the first two candidates on the show to meet and fall in love with each other! Both share a similar history of painful memories and disparagement for their appearances. At a young age, James first became concerned with his looks and tried to maintain a positive attitude, despite a malicious beating by his peers that left him both physically and psychologically scarred. As a result, he was constantly rejected by women and never had a serious girlfriend. For the first time, ""Extreme Makeover"" psychologist Catherine Selden appears on the show to shepherd James through the pain of his past. In an effort to get his life on the right track, James wanted an extreme makeover to gain the confidence to return to school and find a career path.
