Lachele is a care worker for mentally disabled people from Cincinnati, OH, who dreams of one day becoming a nurse. She acts like a second mother to her siblings, a younger brother and sister, and wants to become a nurse to continue helping other people. But her looks prevents those around her from taking her seriously and seeing past her appearance. Marcelo is a pizza delivery man from Altadena, CA, who was forced to take care of his sister and grandmother when they were taken away from his parents. He has always dreamed of attending college to become a psychologist but lacked the self confidence to pursue his dreams. Marcelo is embarrassed about how he looks and feels ashamed of his acne when others call him ""Pepperoni Face."" But finally, a dream deferred becomes a dream come true, thanks to the confidence an Extreme Makeover creates. Now Lachele and Marcelo leave their homes and travel to the ""Makeover Mansion"" and get a chance to take care of themselves, after helping so many others
