10/5 - Sec. Marco Rubio, Rep. Mike Johnson, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Ret. Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges

This week on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan," Secretary of State Marco Rubio joins to discuss where the peace plan for Gaza stands, nearly two years after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack. Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Sen. Chuck Schumer weigh in on the congressional standoff fueling the government shutdown. As Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said the Trump administration intends to federalize 300 Illinois National Guard members in Chicago, Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth told "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" that it is a "misuse of the National Guard." "They're not needed in this particular role," she added. Negotiators between Hamas and Israel will begin meetings in Cairo on Monday for the release of the remaining 20 hostages and a prisoner swap. There is a lot of pressure on both sides to get a deal done, and special envoy Steve Wiktoff and Jared Kushner will be there to represent the U.S. Debora Patta reports from Israel. Ret. Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges told "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's remarks about fitness standards to his military generals were "completely unnecessary." Hodges called it "almost a medieval approach, that doesn't reflect the requirements that we have for women and men who are intelligent, able to operate in a modern battlefield environment."
