Falling Skies focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances.

Season 2

The season's plot focuses on the 2nd Massachusetts' discovery that a large community of survivors has formed in Charleston, their journey there, and their reception once they arrive. It focuses on the discovery that the Skitters are themselves "harnessed" and mind-controlled by the invaders, but that some of them are resistant to the effects and are rebelling against their Overlords.

Season 3

The strength of the local Espheni and Rebel Skitter forces now that both of their leaders have been killed. Karen Nadler replaced the Espheni Commander, commanding the entire eastern North American forces, she was killed shortly after the arrival of the Volm reinforcements. A new rebel Skitter has taken over after Red Eye's death, and continues to support the human resistance and their new allies, the Volm.

The fate of the Skitter rebellion. During the Four Months that the 2nd Mass was separated, the Espheni went on a major offense in seeking out & destroying the Skitter Rebellion. After Tom was brought onboard the Eye in the Sky, the Espheni, Scorch, revealed to Tom that the Black Hornets are Rebel Skitters that have been genetically engineered to mindless drones. Finally defeating the Skitter Rebellion.
