In the first episode, the pilots are put through their paces learning to fly the new F35 Lightning stealth jet. These planes can avoid radar, hover and land vertically, but with only a few months to bring them to the UK and prepare them for active service, the stakes a re high for the aspiring pilots.
Episode 2
In South Carolina, the Lightning Force pilots learn to drop bombs, including junior recruits Chris and Liam, who could find themselves ready for frontline duty by the end of the year. Back in Britain, Danners, Andy and Sedge all find themselves struggling with their training regime - and passing the current stage is vital if they are to achieve their goal of flying a F35 Lightning.
Episode 3
The three students face the final aerial combat and mission tests to decide if they are ready to take to the skies in the new F35 Lightning fighter jet. The squadron they hope to join returns to Britain from training in South Carolina, and junior pilot Liam must master one of the most difficult manoeuvres he will ever have to face - mid air refuelling.
