Season 1

Episodes

Finding The Fool
Yaz is dreading her 36th birthday; she's anything but happy. An unrequited love life, unmet personal and professional goals, topped off by an unwanted surprise birthday party lead to a public meltdown. Bottoming out, she determines to change her life, head to foot. A reunion with an old friend (and former flame) turns out to be more than just a random encounter.

Finding Your Power
While beginning her personal mission to find happy, Yaz's birthday meltdown becomes a viral meme. Porter "PC" Cross, Yaz's "big brother" in college, is now her boss at D-1 Media with plans for a new midday show; could this be the opportunity for Yaz to get her long-desired on-air debut? Yaz pushes boyfriend Shawn for clarity on their relationship. Jamila prepares her braid shop for the grand opening with help from her boyfriend Dexter and her mother, Jo.

Finding Time
Yaz puts together her audition tape to submit for D-1 Media's new show "The Brunch Crew," but distractions get the best of her. Trying to move on from boyfriend Shawn, a trainer, Yaz tries out a new gym. Porter introduces a new show and its new hosts to D-1. Jamila meets her boyfriend Dexter's new hire, the dangerously cute Brandi, and a client causes trouble for Jamila on the verge of her grand opening.

Finding No One
It's the Grand Opening of J-Braids and Jamila needs all hands on-deck. Unfortunately, Dexter's new job training to become a long-haul trucker conflicts, plus Jamila's mother Jo is in the way, and mishaps unfold. Yaz decides to take a chance on herself and resurrects "It's Ya Girl Yaz" on social media. She also entertains an old suitor.

Finding The Wretch
Glamour girl and influencer Princess Charles - and not Yaz - gets the open spot on D-1's "The Brunch Crew," much to Yaz's frustration. Still trying to move on, Yaz asks Shawn to pick up his belongings from her place, and flirts with a handsome fellow in church, where her tough-loving mother Marilyn is giving a guest sermon. Porter solicits Yaz's help to find a gift for his daughter, which leads to late-night drinks and reminiscences about their romance years ago. At work, Yaz secretly records Princess Charles having a vulnerable moment and, against her better judgment, shares it with co-worker Chanel.

Finding The Surprise
It's the annual family get-together. Yaz's father Raymond is in town, causing his new girlfriend Cassandra and ex-wife Marilyn to face off. Shawn surprises Yaz by showing up at her job where he jealously faces off with Porter. Dexter bonds with co-worker Brandi, while Jamila grapples with unexpected news. When a new love interest rejects Yaz's advances, she risks backsliding romantically.

Finding The Worry
Yaz's co-worker Chanel books "It's Ya Girl Yaz" for a designer's flagship launch and encourages Yaz to try a bold new look for the big event. D-1 Media execs tell Porter that Princess Charles needs more development - good news for Yaz, offset when her new couture look fails. Jamila imagines a new life with Dexter, not realizing Dexter is growing closer to Brandi. Yaz discovers the secret causing Jamila's odd behavior.

Finding A Good Day
When Yaz discovers that the video she secretly shot of Princess Charles has been leaked, she fears getting fired and skips work to play hooky with Jamila. The two cousins head to Atlanta's Black Hair Museum where they discuss how Jamila's secret might affect her relationship with Dexter - a secret Yaz can relate to. Yaz tells Jamila about the leaked video, triggering Jamila to urge revenge on Chanel. Dexter rejoices with Jamila over good news, even though he hides secrets of his own.

Finding A Chance
D-1 Media's HR investigates the leaked video. When Yaz fumbles with the truth, Porter pulls the plug on putting Yaz on-air, causing her to argue and fall-out with Chanel. Jamila thinks excitedly about settling down with Dexter. Yaz tries to make things right with Porter but misreads a shared moment. With things on the rocks at work, Yaz seeks out a new mentor: the on-air star of a rival radio station who just might offer Yaz a career lifeline.

Finding Dynasty
Yaz secures a gig as MC of hip-hop star Lil Young Baby's listening party, but the unexpected appearance of the many men in her life throw her off her game. Jamila is shattered by a heartbreaking discovery, and when she calls for Yaz's help, Yaz has to make the biggest decision of her life.
