Dick Powell portrays a detective whose fiancée and brother are the chief suspects in a murder case he's investigating, in "The Contest," presented on "Parker Four Star Playhouse" at 9:30 p.m. Both the detective's fiancée, played by Marguerite Chapman, and his brother, played by Douglas Dick, have strong motives for committing the murder. Powell finds his fiancée's glove at the scene of the murder and realizes she had been there. Witnesses saw a woman leave the scene immediately after the shots were fired. The detective knows his fiancée either committed the murder or saw the person who did it.
