Fugitive: The Mystery of the Crypto Queen - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Episode 1
Investigating the $4.5billion cryptocurrency scam OneCoin, created by Bulgarian-born German woman Ruja Ignatova and meeting the investors based in the UK, US and Uganda who plunged their life savings into it, believing that it would become tradeable and that they would make millions.

Episode 2
An international group of sceptics who become known as The Busters ramp up their fight against OneCoin, but come up against both legal and violent threats. They pull together to stop Ruja and OneCoin from promoting the company, but as a small group up against millions of investors and expensive lawyers, their voices go unheard. New scandals emerge as The Busters learn that Ruja was previously convicted of fraud and money laundering. They try to stop a huge OneCoin event at London's Wembley Arena, but to no avail. OneCoin continues to rise in popularity, reaching dizzying new heights, and with Ruja announcing a newborn baby, everything seems to be going perfectly. However, as the months begin to pass, less and less is seen of Ruja, while her brother Konstantin becomes the public figurehead for OneCoin. In 2019, the FBI arrest Konstantin at Los Angeles airport. But where's Ruja? And what about OneCoin's billions of dollars?

Episode 3
With Ruja Ignatova now at large for several years, some loyal followers still believe that she'll reappear with the missing money. However, a much larger group of people - including FBI agents, investigative journalists and podcast producers - are trying to get to the bottom of Ruja's - and the missing billions' - whereabouts. Rumours regularly circulate that Ruja has been murdered or that is living in uncharted waters on a yacht, or maybe that she's had plastic surgery to change her appearance. Featuring interviews with lawyers, investigators and Georgia Catt, the creator and producer of The Missing Cryptoqueen podcast.
