Episode 1
Donnie Mackay braves Storms Gertrude and Henry to join the heroes who battle through, whatever the weather. Men like Murdo MacDonald, who works for SSEN in Lewis. When the weather closes in, Murdo and his team don their bright yellow jackets and head out to wherever their skills are needed most - in this case getting the power back on stream for the residents of Newmarket.
If you've every wondered who decides whether the ferry sails or not - Donnie has the answer. He meets CalMac skippers Michael MacNeil and Iain MacNeil to find out what criteria they take into consideration before cancelling a trip.
Weather forecaster Sarah Cruickshank is joined by meteorologists from Storm Geo, and asks them why our recent weather appears so extreme. And hill farmer Robert MacDonald, from Granton-on-Spey, is out in a snow storm feeding his pregnant ewes. Will the weather improve by the time the lambs arrive?

Episode 2
In this episode, Donnie Mackay heads out into the snow with hill farmer Robert MacDonald to check on his lambs. Comhairle nan Eilean Siar roads manager Roddy MacDonald is up early to load his gritter lorry, and Sarah Cruickshank finds out why some areas are more prone to snow than others with the help of the Storm Geo meteorologists. CalMac chef Maria MacNeil shares her secrets on how to feed a ferry load in a storm force gale.

Episode 3
Donnie Mackay joins the heroes who battle through extreme weather. In this episode, Donnie is almost blown off his feet in South Uist, as a Force 12 gale passes through the Hebrides. SSEN engineer Allan MacDonald is unable to make the repairs he planned to make to the main electricity line, but is still out checking for any faults. Donnie also joins home care workers Chrissie Macrae in Stornoway and Flora MacDonald in Uist. Both regularly brave the elements to visit their elderly clients, who appreciate the service they provide. And on Calmac's Loch Bhrusda, skippers Duncan MacGaugan and John Angus Henderson explain just how treacherous the crossing from Harris to Berneray can be in bad weather.

Episode 4
Donnie Mackay joins the heroes who battle through extreme weather. In this episode, Donnie investigates the extreme flooding experienced across Scotland and discovers what measures Perth has put in place to tame the River Tay. Later he joins long-distance lorry driver Murdo John Mackay as he crosses Scotland in all weathers, and shares memories of dreadful blizzard conditions on Arran. It's CalMac handyman Alasdair MacIver's last day after 28 years on the job, and Donnie is with him as he says farewell to a life at sea. Over in South Uist, SSEN engineers Neil MacCormick and Matthew MacDonald are making a special delivery. When the power goes down kidney transplant patient Tam relies on a generator to keep him alive, and so the boys make sure he has one installed before the worst of the weather hits.
