Gassal - Season 1

Baki, a gassal, starts to worry about what will happen to his body after he dies and who will wash it after a sudden incident. Worried about Baki's loneliness and fears, his friend finds a bride for him, thinking that marriage would be a solution.

Baki continues to look for someone to take over the washing job after his death and finds hope in Nazım, who relies on his wife's approval for every decision. Having received approval, Baki eagerly begins to teach Nazım the rituals of washing the dead. However, an unexpected event surprises him.

After Nazım's death, Baki fulfills his final duties towards him. Nazım's widow refuses to bury him next to his brother due to their past disagreements. While Baki prepares halva for Nazım, painful memories of his own past come to light.

After Nazım's death, Ahmet visits Baki and tells him to find a wife to fill the void in his home. While Baki tries to do what is necessary to prepare mafia boss Taylan for the funeral, he is constantly interrupted by the relatives of the deceased. The new hearse driver, Merdan, is initially deceived by the crowd, but eventually sees the truth.

Baki visits Elif at work for the first time and unintentionally makes the employees nervous with his presence. When Elif asks him for help with a patient, Baki accidentally gets injured. When Baki tries to talk to Elif, his clumsy expressions cause a misunderstanding.

Baki visits Ahmet and listens to his friend fondly recall how he fell in love with his wife, Neslihan. Inspired by the story, Baki attempts to emulate Ahmet's experience in his own search for love, but encounters Kerime, a bride-to-be who rejects him, and Kerime's mother.

Baki learns from an alarming phone call that his father, Haris, who he thought was in prison, needs him outside. Going to the given address, Baki has an interesting encounter with his father after twenty years. On their way home, the two have an argument that triggers painful memories.

Baki advises Nadir, who is still afraid of washing the dead, to change careers. While looking for a place where he can apprentice by going through old files to find a new career for Nadir, Baki finds himself negotiating for Nadir's new job.

Baki wakes up in the hospital after a car accident. He is the only one among the visitors of the patients lying on either side of him. Moreover, one of these visitors is Elif, who has come to see her friend who proposed to her. When they come face to face at Ahmet's house, Elif is forced to reveal a sad secret she has been keeping for a long time.

Uncle Hüseyin and Baki enter into a deep dialogue that changes Baki's perspective on life. Baki, who hears about Elif from everyone around him, goes to the hospital to meet her and learns that Elif is on her way to Ahmet's house.
