Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, is the current creative director of the event, and he will fulfill this role for the next 15 years. The event was created in 2015 to mark the establishment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a "to-do list" of 17 tasks to end extreme global poverty by the year 2030.
