Mitya Zhuravlev is busy creating a time machine while his wife Katya is preparing for divorce. Unexpectedly, a hussar from 1812 appears in the couple's apartment....

Trying to fix the time machine, Mitya realizes that he needs an expensive part, for which the young scientist has no money. The hussar suggests going to his estate, where he has a stash of jewelry. The estate, fortunately, has been preserved, but now no one is waiting for the hussar there ...

Grigory Savelyevich notices that he is getting fat. Mitya can't help him, but Katya finds a way out: she offers the hussar to go to a fitness club with her.

Grigory Savelyevich, like any hussar, likes to drink often and hard. But at such times only the hussar feels good, and the rest feel bad... That's why Katya decides to introduce a dry law....

Grigory Savelyevich gets a "deadly" illness - allergies. The Cranes decide not to dissuade the guest and have a little rest from his pranks. But, as it turned out, even "dies" hussar dashingly....

There is a commotion in the house of the Zhuravlevs: Katin's father arrives. How not to let him realize that his daughter is unhappily married and that the relative is a guest from the past?

Hussar shows up at the wedding organized by Katya and spoils the festivities. Katya decides to teach him a lesson and declares bankruptcy. Now the hussar is forced to go to earn money.

The hussar's luck has run out: as a result of his ridiculous actions, he falls into a coma. To prevent a temporary paradox, Grigory Savelyevich must be brought back to life. But how to do it, if the hussar in comatose dreams found himself in the past in his estate?

Hussar again makes a mess in the house of the Zhuravlevs. Katya is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and decides to move out. Mitya wants to get Katya back. Grigory Savelyevich comes to his aid....

Mitya asks the hussar to teach him an ancient martial art - "Khitroboy". And although the hussar's training looks more like sophisticated torture, Mitya is ready to do anything to get Katya back.

The Zhuravlevs are about to finalize their divorce. But they can't even leave the apartment, because the hussar wants to save their marriage and doesn't plan to give up...

Mitya finally fixes the time machine, and the hussar goes home. And Katya and Mitya split up. But soon strange events begin to happen, which unite the Cranes again.

Mitya and Katya are stuck in the past, just before the Battle of Borodino. But it looks like there won't be a battle, because the hussar didn't get the secret documents to Kutuzov in time. And if there is no Borodino, history will change and the Zhuravlevs will have nowhere to go back to....
