Introduction to Iodine
Every cell in the body needs and requires iodine to survive. Yet, of all the elements known so far to be essential to life itself and human health, iodine is the most misunderstood. Dr. David Brownstein, a board-certified physician and a foremost practitioner of holistic medicine, is here to set the record straight about iodine's amazing healing properties. In this first episode of a four-part mini-series, he explains how iodine is needed and used throughout the body, gives a history of iodine's medical use over the years, explores the myths and misinformation about its use, and discusses the forms and dosages that are most effective.

Iodine and the Thyroid
Fatigue, weight gain, depression, constipation — these are just a few of the more common symptoms of the dysfunction of the thyroid, a little gland that exerts an enormous influence over the entire body. Dr. David Brownstein, one of the foremost practitioners of holistic medicine, has been studying the true causes of thyroid dysfunction over two decades. His revolutionary treatment plan, with the use of iodine supplementation at its core, has effectively helped thousands of patients to date. Dr. Brownstein describes in detail how the thyroid functions, the role of iodine, and its common disorders — including thyroid cancer, which is the fastest growing cancer in the U.S. right now.

Iodine and Glandular Cancers
Hormone-sensitive cancers are occurring at epidemic rates. For example, one in seven women are affected by breast cancer and one in three men are affected by prostate cancer. While there are numerous reasons for the development of cancer, something you might not be aware of — and the research is clear — is that iodine deficiency is a major piece of the cancer puzzle. Dr. David Brownstein explains that iodine deficiency has been associated with other hormone-sensitive cancers, including thyroid, ovarian, uterine, pancreatic, even fibrocystic breast disease. In this episode, we will learn that iodine — which is effective and inexpensive — could be a key to help solve a global health crisis.

Iodine, Salt & Holistic Treatments
Without salt, life itself would not be possible. According to Dr. David Brownstein, salt, like iodine, is another badly misunderstood yet essential element. In his holistic medical practice, Dr. Brownstein finds deficiencies in these essential elements are often the root causes of maladies that conventional medicine only treats symptomatically with drugs. In the final episode of this ground-breaking four-part mini-series, Dr. Brownstein delves into the workings of the holistic approach, touching upon such other typical deficiencies as B12 and Selenium, the value of a good diet, the applications of ozone therapy, and the importance of simply drinking enough water

Biological Dentistry Breakthroughs
In this special edition of Healing Matrix, we meet Dr. Blanche Grube who explains how Biological Dentistry saved her life and the lives of many of her patients. Together with Dr. Ed Group, they discuss the major pitfalls we face with routine procedures in modern dentistry, from mercury fillings to root canals. This is something that Dr. Grube learned firsthand when she began her studies with Biological Dentistry pioneer, Hal Huggins. She discusses her difficulty with reading & concentration, and the surprise cancer diagnosis that came from a blood test result as part of her initial training with Dr. Huggins. After the removal of 18 mercury fillings and 5 root canal teeth, her symptoms dramatically improved. Now she leads the way to healthier lives for many people who have embraced her pioneering techniques.

Dangers of Mercury in Your Mouth
Can you imagine putting a toxic chemical into your mouth that could cause a lifetime of disease and degraded lifestyle? Dr. Blanche Grube and Dr. Ed Group say this is exactly what happens when we agree to mercury fillings at the dentist office. They discuss the history of using mercury to fill teeth and the battles that ensued over the toxicity vs. ease which resulted in the amalgam wars. The most recent of which was spearheaded by Biological Dentistry pioneer, Hal Huggins. Dr. Grube discusses the many effects of mercury fillings, including depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, allergies, and autoimmune disorders. She explains that one atom of mercury can kill one cell, but it doesn't stop there until the mercury is removed from the mouth and cleared from the body.

Reversing Mercury Damage
Despite the overwhelming evidence of harm caused by mercury, it is still used every day, is there a way reverse the damage? In this discussion with Dr. Ed Wood, Dr. Blanche Grube takes us deeper into the effects of mercury on the body and how to restore its health, including various detox protocols. Then we talk with a patient of Dr. Grube's whose life changed dramatically after the removal of his mercury fillings. She explains that this is a very thorough process beginning with supplementation and a bio-compatibility test to ensure the correct materials are used to fill the teeth. To show us how this works, Dr. Grube invites us into her laboratory where they test for bio-compatible materials, and into the operatory to see how they set up for safe mercury removal.

The Price of Root Canals
Could root canals be the root cause of many devastating diseases in the body? Dr. Blanche Grube had five root canal teeth removed and almost instantly her cancer disappeared. With Dr. Ed Group, we examine what a root canal is, why they are done, and the lasting consequences to the body as bacteria and toxins grow underneath the now dead tooth. This all came to light from Dr. Weston Price who tragically learned these consequences when his 16-year-old son died from the subsequent effects of a root canal that he himself administered. The fight was then taken up by Dr. Hal Huggins who discovered the types of bacteria thriving within root canal conditions, including Lyme disease. Dr. Grube then explains how a root canal tooth is removed and the amazing improvements to health that thousands of her patients have experienced after the safe extraction.

Oral Health and Chronic Illness
Losing a tooth can be an arduous ordeal, but it is nothing compared to the health consequences if that tooth is not properly treated. Dr. Blanche Grube and Dr. Ed Group discuss cavitations and implants, which can result from a removed tooth, and both pose serious risks to the rest of the body. Dr. Grube explains that a cavitation, not properly addressed, creates a hole in the bone that doesn't heal where bacteria and toxins build up, which can lead to chronic illnesses. Problems with implants include the body rejecting them, the electrical fields they create that interfere with the way the brain works, and the implants' effects on the organs in the body. As we wrap up this discussion on Biological Dentistry, we explore various misconceptions from modern dentistry and the things you can do to maintain oral health which affects your overall wellbeing.
