Heimebane - Season 1

After leading her team to sensational results in European women's football, Coach Helena Mikkelsen finds her achievements ridiculed by the male experts of the footballing world. When an opportunity to coach a newly promoted Men's premiere league side arises, Helena is only considered for an assistant coaching position. Fueled by passion and anger Helena demands to be considered for the head coaching position. Despite club director Espen Eide's initial hesitation, he puts his own job on the line and offers Helena the historic position as Head Coach of Varg IL.

After a disastrous first meeting with the players Helena must prove her worth to the men in the locker room, persuade the misogynistic head sponsor to fund new players and convince a traumatized but talented 17-year-old to get back in the game and sign for the club. Helena's teenage daughter Camilla comes to visit, but is shocked by the challenges her faced by her mother.

The pressure piles on Helena as the first game of the season approaches. With all eyes on Helena a good result would give her a flying start but her star young player may not be ready yet. When the time comes Helena must make a choice, to chase victory by forcing Adrian onto the pitch too soon, or accept defeat and give Adrian the space he needs to rebuild his confidence.

When Helena publicly criticizes the supporters for their lack of enthusiasm, supporter-inchief Gunnar declares war on Helena and the club. Helena must find a way to win the supporters back or risk playing the highly anticipated local derby in an empty stadium. Meanwhile, Michael Ellingsen is beginning to feel his age and fading glory.

The second half of the hard fought local derby is just about to begin when Helena receives word that Eivind, one of her key players and strongest supporters, has a wife about to give birth in the hospital.

Helena is given a four match suspension for pushing the opposing team's coach after he groped her. Helena must decide if she wants to appeal the decision and go public with the assault or stay quiet and let Michael take control of the team for a month.

When an important signing falls through on deadline day, Helena has two hours to find the money to sign a new striker or risk going the rest of the season without scoring goals. Helena sees only one way to raise that type of money on such short notice. Will she sacrifice a friend and give Varg a chance to redeem their season?

A penalty shootout is just about to begin. Helena must choose her five penalty takers. As each man faces the keeper and prepares for his penalty we flash back to the private events bringing them to this moment.

With team morals at an all-time low and Adrian's form flailing, Helena is faced with the impatience of the board and sponsors. Helena's fate is to be decided in an impossible matchup against league champions Rosenborg where Helena must find a victory or lose her job.

Helena and her team must pull off an impossible run of five wins in a row to save the club from relegation and financial ruin.
