Hemligt Hav - Season 1

Season 1

In November 1984 two Swedish girls drift out to the Baltic Sea in a rowboat. The first night they have a close encounter with something they believe to be a gigantic platform. Minutes later as the platform vanishes down below the surface of the water they realize it was a submarine. 48 hours later they are rescued by a Soviet union cargo ship by the name of DAGESTAN. At the time media focused its attention on the sunshine story and the miraculous rescue of the two young girls. The actual encounter with the submarine becomes a state secret that involves the Swedish and Russian intelligence and is not shared with the media at the time. This is also a story about a strong friendship and their well kept secret; and a Russian submarine Captain who took a huge risk saving two complete strangers from a certain death.

Bookish

London, 1946 is the dynamic, dangerous and chaotic setting for this stylish new detective drama, with the eccentric Gabriel Book at the very heart of the story: a self-appointed consultant detective to the local police. The thousands of books that line the shelves of his shop provide him with all the knowledge he needs.

Book has gathered around him a host of lovable, damaged misfits whom he informally protects, cajoles, and mentors. His wife Trottie runs the wallpaper shop next door. She's a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves deeply but not physically, for they are in a 'lavender' marriage to help conceal Book's sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.

Bookish marries post-war nostalgia with the reckless and life-affirming atmosphere of the times, creating a fast-paced and stylish detective drama.
