As the 2020 flat racing season draws to a close, Oisin Murphy seeks to defend his Champion Jockey title. However, misdemeanours in his personal life mean he is facing a lengthy ban. Trainer Andrew Balding juggles preparing stable superstar Kameko for a crack at the Breeders' Cup in Kentucky with recruiting new horses for the 2021 season at the sales.
Episode 2
Whilst Oisin serves his ban and accepts counselling, the Kingsclere staff battle the winter elements to prepare their equine athletes for the season ahead. Andrew sends runners to the Middle East to compete in the richest races in the world. There is deep concern amongst the team as groom and former refugee Abdul heads back to Africa in search of his long-lost brother.
Episode 3
In the wake of Prince Philip's death, Andrew and Oisin try to provide The Queen with a lift. Following her comeback race, Alcohol Free is among the favourites to win the 1000 Guineas. Andrew prepares a runner for the Derby, the world's most important race which he is yet to win, while his Alzheimer suffering father, ex-trainer Ian Balding, recalls his crowning achievement in 1971.

Five spectacular days of Royal Ascot as Kingsclere sends its strongest team yet to the meeting. Will it be enough to see them compete against racing's super-powers on the world stage? Oisin's friendship with Frankie Dettori turns to rivalry as a tightly fought duel goes to the stewards' room.
