House Calls - Season 1

Kensington General Hospital has a new assistant administrator. Ann Anderson discovers on her first day at the hospital that the chief of surgery is senile, the head obstetrician can't cope with women and that she is the target for the hospital's philandering doctor. When attractive Ann Anderson arrives to take up an administrative post, her very first day is a startling revelation of how a hospital can function - in spite of its medical staff! The chief surgeon is as absent-minded as they come; the obstetrician can't cope with women-but Charley, the playboy doctor, certainly can.

Anne must take a physical examination to qualify for the hospital pension plan and Dr Michaels volunteers for the job to prove that his personal feelings do not interfere with his professional judgment. When Charley's old high school teacher is admitted to the hospital he finds that one way and another, she can still teach him a thing or two...

The hospital needs a new wing, and it is Dr Michaels who tries to raise the money. Charley tries to play both ends against the middle when he lands up having two dinner dates with two jealous women on the same night in the same restaurant. Even for him it is a test of nerves and stamina.

Drs. Michaels and Solomon temporarily lose faith in their ability. Charley has a bad day in the operating theatre and as a result he loses confidence in himself as a surgeon. It wasn't too much fun for the patient either!

Amos uses a visit to the hospital by a famous doctor to gain much-needed publicity for the place. But the great man has a certain weakness of character which in Charley's biased opinion is definitely not healthy!

Ann, Charley and their co-workers are quarantined in the cafeteria after a 7year-old sprays them with a smallpox culture that he swiped from the lab.

Security at Kensington General is stepped up when a notorious gangster is admitted for surgery prior to appearing in court on a murder charge. A notorious criminal is admitted to the hospital for surgery and a nervous Charley is appointed to do the honours. There is a bit of preliminary cut and thrust between doctor and patient but it is definitely Charley who's balanced on a knife-edge, so to speak!

A new Chief Administrator arrives at Kensington General.The Staff at Kensington Hospital are shocked when the new administrator fires Amos on the grounds that he is too old to be a surgeon.

The staff at Kensington General are puzzled by the disappearance of supplies and equipment. Watch out! There's a thief about at the hospital. And that's not all - there's a phoney doctor at work as well!

A taste of his own medicine. Dr Michaels finds himself confined to a hospital bed and proves to be the world's worst patient - proper Charlie in fact!

Charming, gentle Florence Alexander is Charley's idea of a perfect patient. And poor old Amos is treated with derision when he expresses doubts about her. What was that about he who laughs last?

Dr Weatherby proudly presents his granddaughter Susan as the latest member of his family to carry on the tradition in medicine. But Susan is something of a lethal weapon - the only thing she likes about working at the hospital is Charley!

Flanked by screaming fans, a teenage rock star is rushed to Kensington General after collapsing on stage. Life gets hectic for everyone in his orbit. When a pop star is admitted as a patient to the hospital, the invasion by his entourage - not to mention his fans- causes even more chaos than usual at Kensington General.
