In this two-part series Dawn O'Porter presents the definitive guide to online dating. The series looks into the biggest phenomenon in our collective love lives since the contraceptive pill. Nine million of us logged on to a dating site in 2011, generating £170 million and the business is booming. But finding love online can be a daunting process. In programme one, Dawn follows 25 singletons as they experience online dating for the first time. Along the way she finds out how to get the best out of online dating and how to avoid the hidden pitfalls.

Dawn goes in search of the truth about this lucrative and largely unregulated industry, asking if daters' data is safe and highlighting the dangers of romance scammers. Using the results of a survey of British online daters, she tells us if blondes are more or less likely to reply to messages than brunettes, finds out who lies most on their profiles and reveals who has the most success.
