Episode 1
Dr Xand van Tulleken and dietician Hala El-Shafie ask ordinary Brits to road test some of the most popular and talked about diets out there; and to then give viewers the lowdown on how the diets worked for them. CafÚ cook Stacie Stewart helps the volunteers to turn their diets into delicious dishes. The second series begins with Emilie and Harriet, who have two weeks to slim down for a photo shoot. Cousins Natasha and Chiquita go on a six week diet for Natasha's wedding. And brothers Gary and Wayne want to slim down for a darts competition due in four months. Xand also investigates how exposure to extreme temperatures can affect weight loss and finds out if chewing for longer can help the calorie count.

To find out how fasting affects body and mind, Xand goes on an extreme 'water-only' fast, and investigates if so called 'zero calorie' and 'negative calorie' foods really exist.

Episode 3

This week, Stefanie and Jade from Harrow have just 10 days to slim down before the launch of their clothing label. Sugar fiend Stefanie goes cold turkey on the No Sugar Diet. Jade test drives the Low Fat Diet, filling up on lean protein and fibre. Fast food junkies Matt from Redditch and Robb from the Wirral battle the bulge before a university reunion in six weeks' time. Matt is on the Warrior Diet, eating like an ancient soldier. Rob is given the Sleeping Beauty Diet, sleeping more to allow his body to optimise hormones that control his appetite and metabolism. And Vicki and Kerry from Chesterfield want to get fighting fit for a mud race in four months' time.

Episode 4
This time the diet crashers are Amber and Roisin, with just ten days to slim down for Amber's graduation day. Amber tries the mono meal diet while Roisin is on the Dukan diet of lean protein, oat bran and water. The shapeshifters are Gerry and Leighton, on six week diet plans for Leighton's wedding, with Gerry testing the abs diet and Leighton the South Beach. The life changers are Janet and Carol, with four months to test out the DNA diet and the apples and pears weight loss regime. There's also a look at vitamin drips and placenta pills.

After attending a medical conference in Beijing and coming frighteningly close to dying in a car crash, Dr. Matthew Nolan arrives home and is immediately arrested at London's Heathrow Airport.
