The doom is done with a four-pointed metal weapon, "the death star," a device Hunter recognizes as the trademark of a years-ago foe named "Bluebird," an ace Communist intelligence agent he hates.

Hunter uses a mirror to snap her out of her programming.

Hunter and Marty are assigned to find the missing American spy, and Hunter begins to suspect that a traitor in his own agency is responsible for the kidnapping.
