Aflevering 1
July 1914. Ghent. Cultural evening. Host Dr. Philippe Boesman is convinced there will be no war.

Aflevering 2
September 1914. Ghent is flooded by refugees, while messages about ruined cities, civilians being shot and killed soldiers are received in astonishment.

Aflevering 3
October 1914. Ghent is occupied. The house of family Boesman is claimed by Captain Gerolf Hoffmand and Feldwebel Hans-Peter Lehman.

Aflevering 4
Christmas 1914. On the battle front, Vincent fraternises with the Germans. In Ghent Virginie and Marie are supporting the local community by distributing clothes and food.

August 1915. Vincent is promoted to Corporal, while he is very annoyed by the French speaking army command.

Aflevering 6
March 1916. A slowly dispirited Vincent has been tasked to reinforce the killing corridor. The job is inhumanly heavy. Behind the battlefield, Guillaume lives a luxurious life.

Aflevering 7
November 1916. On her way to the Netherlands, Marie is being arrested. Guillaume can join on leave with one of his friends to England.

July 1917. Marie graduates her nursing education in London and returns to Belgium. She is appointed to a field hospital in the Westhoek, close to the unit of her brother Vincent. It is here where Marie is confronted with the reality of war for her very first time.

January 1918. Marie helps Guillaume, who'se learning to walk again with his leg prosthesis. He is missing Sarah. Philippe returns to his job as general practitioner, he helps others modest and without pretension.

Aflevering 10
August 1918. Vincent is court-martialed for an accusation of rape. On the frontline, Hans-Peter has to lead a squad of young and inexperienced soldiers. While Virginie mourns about Philippe, Captain Hoffman gives her an ultimatum. Guillaume finds his piece by Sarah, while Marie tries to save her brother.
