Inside Monaco: Playground of the Rich - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Episode 1
Fred Sirieix narrates a documentary giving an insight into the principality on the French Riviera, with access to the royal palace as well as the super-rich and those who serve them. In the first edition, director Michael Waldman explores how this extraordinary country operates, meeting everyone from Prince Albert and his staff to wealthy widow Monika Bacardi, who takes him on a tour in her chauffeur-driven classic Rolls-Royce. He also goes track side with ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard and team owner Eddie Jordan during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Episode 2
The programme goes behind the scenes as Casino de Monte Carlo holds an exclusive event with a Prohibition theme aimed at high rollers as it seeks to attract new clients, while at the palace Prince Albert II hosts the new French ambassador. In Monaco's only tattoo parlour, Princess Stephanie's daughter Camille Gottlieb is getting a discreet new inking and sharing what life is like for her in the principality, and four billion euros' worth of motor vessels enter the harbour for the annual yacht show.

Episode 3
The final episode of the documentary features a tour of an extraordinary new home - Villa Troglodyte, which has come onto the market. Built as if carved out of the rock, the price is `only" £23million because it doesn't have a sea view. The pressure to build more houses in such a small country has left Prince Albert with a challenge. Cameras follow him as he attends meetings about a huge two-billion-euro land extension project he has initiated. Extending into the sea is a complex operation, but once complete the largest villas there are estimated to sell for around 100million euros.
