At the heart of the commemorations, deputy governor Debbie Whittingham organises a major remembrance service on Chapel Green, including a lone bagpiper to perform the haunting lament that echoed across the beaches on D-Day.

They will be bringing back nearly 30,000 ceramic poppies to the Fortress. Cameras also focus on Buildings Curator Alfred Hawkins, who is beginning an excavation at Henry VIII's chapel of St Peter ad Vincula.
