Season 2
The captivating and compelling observational documentary series returns. Following the incredible work of the staff of the West Midlands Fire Service, Into The Fire tells the stories of a 21st century Fire and Rescue service.
Equipped with 80 ground-breaking, fireproof, helmet cameras and 70 body-worn cameras, each episode features unique footage filmed by the firefighters from 38 different fire stations as they risk their lives to protect an area home to nearly three million people. Dealing daily with extremes, the firefighters put the lives of others before their own and enter some of the most dangerous and difficult situations imaginable. As well as this dangerous work, the WMFS staff engage in a wide variety of work designed to keep people and business safe. From school visits, to fire safety checks with elderly and vulnerable residents, to outreach programmes among the West Midland's many diverse communities, the firefighters are part of the social fabric that binds the region together.

Episodes

Episode 1
Eighty firefighters battle an enormous blaze at a wood processing factory and panic strikes when two of the crew go missing in the flames. Also, a specialist unit are drawn into a murder investigation and veteran crew commander, Stephen ‘Puffa' Pougher, is first on the scene at a nasty bus crash.

Episode 2
The West Midlands Fire service deal with a man impaled on a metal bar who could die any moment, a raging inferno at a recycling plant spewing toxic smoke across people's home, and a shed engulfed in flames - started by a 7-year-old.

Episode 3
Firefighters race to a blaze in a terraced family home where it's discovered a member of the house hold may still be trapped inside. Elsewhere, a lorry has crashed into a car, and there's a visit to a local retirement home to help out the residents.

Episode 4
Firefighters are swiftly on the scene after a mini cab mounts the kerb and smashes into a tree, injuring and trapping the passengers inside. Arson rips into a derelict pub and a pensioner attempts to tackle a blazing car that threatens his home.

Episode 5
This week, the Tech Rescue perform a tricky rope rescue on a 14-stone dog which has fallen 100ft down a ravine. And over 30 firefighters head into unknown danger when they tackle a huge blaze at an industrial unit.

Episode 6
A fire at a battery recycling plant leaves the crew trying to tame an industrial inferno. Meanwhile, new recruits are put through their paces, but with just 30 places on offer from over 3,000 applications, competition is fierce.

Episode 7
Firefighters are called to a potentially lethal lorry fire which causes them to shut the M6 motorway. A house fire which suddenly becomes a crime scene after a shocking discovery, and 20 firefighters race to a primary school prom when a ceiling collapses.

Episode 8
Fire crews help a baby suffering from suspected smoke inhalation as they put out a shed fire that has started in mysterious circumstances.

Episode 9
This special episode looks back at some of the most courageous call-outs the firefighters have filmed themselves, including a huge factory fire, car crashes and a dramatic dog rescue.
