In the city of palaces, Vir Das takes two friends - an Indian who looks like a foreigner, Ashwin Mushran, and an American who looks like an Indian, Raj Sharma. What is it like to be a jester and make the king laugh? They go to meet the king, but God decides to rain on their parade. Literally. In a city so original, can Vir write a Mysore joke? What would a Mysore joke even be? To get answers, they explore the city, meet a few experts and steal some sandalwood along the way.
