Germany and Austria
The actress and presenter travels down the famous river, beginning in Germany's Black Forest. She explores the Danube Gorge in Bavaria, and meets memorable characters, including a beer-brewing nun. In Austria. Joanna also discovers the beauty of the Wachau wine valley and fulfils a dream to visit the Vienna Boys Choir, before Tom Neuwirth, also known as Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst - reveals more of Vienna.

Slovakia and Hungary
The second leg of Joanna's adventure takes her to the landlocked countries of Slovakia and Hungary. She traces Danube tributaries to the top of the dramatic Tatras mountains in Slovakia, explores the river by boat in Budapest, rides a children's railway, and discovers the city's Jewish heritage. The actress and presenter also meets Hungary's cowboys.

Romania
The last leg of Joanna's Danube journey takes her across Romania, starting at the vast Iron Gates gorge. The actress travels into wild Transylvania, where she follows the trails of brown bears in the forest and discovers the secret history of Dracula's castle. After a night in a guest house owned by King Charles and an encounter with Europe's witches, Joanna heads towards the Danube Delta, the Black Sea, and the finale of her adventure.
