Season 1
Episodes

I've Always Wanted a Pond
It's January, and Johnny makes a pond to attract wildlife. Johnny films otters for the first time on Devon's River Torridge.

My Floating Hide Thing
Johnny enlists the help of his friend Alfie to begin work on an obstacle course for badgers. Johnny's floating hide makes a final trip on to the Somerset Levels.

What Do You Want Prettier Than That?
Johnny wants to introduce hares to his plot. He talks to Bob Tovey, another wild man of the countryside who has spent his life working with hares. The lads start on their next big development - a hide.

Spring is in the Air
It's time to start planting up the pond but it's the hottest spring that Johnny has ever known and water levels are dropping fast. But it's good news elsewhere because the drought leads Johnny to a rare discovery and Bob Tovey has got some hares for him to release on the land.

The Bluebells Are Coming
Johnny's attention is diverted by a jackdaw's nest in his back garden and a family of foxes near his village. Expert Michael Woods helps him put out boxes to attract dormice to his reserve.

Bye Bye Birdie, Bye Bye!
At last the weather has changed - it's raining! And that's good news for Johnny's pond and the baby birds on his land. He is thrilled to capture on film for the first time a family of Great Tits as they leave their nesting box. But despite great views of roe deer from his new hide he has no luck with the calves until a local photographer helps him out.

O Badger, Where Art Thou?
It's early June and Johnny still hasn't seen any badger cubs. Armed with his friend's invention, he looks underground. He also invites his old mates to an evening at the new hide.

In the Midst of Life...
Summer has arrived and Johnny conquers two of his greatest fears - flying and horses. He's delighted when a heron visits the pond. Everything is going well until he receives some shocking news about his friend Tony.

The New Beast of Exmoor?
The time has come to cut the wheat on Johnny's land and he's made an intriguing discovery - it appears wild boar are living there, seemingly from the herd that escaped onto Exmoor two years ago. Johnny is determined to film them.

Home at Last
It's autumn, Johnny's favourite time of year, and as always he wants to film a roaring stag. But he has got his work cut out judging a bizarre competition on Exmoor and entertaining the people he met whilst filming in Scotland. He's looking forward to a quiet winter on the land with his wife, Julie.
