Kangaroo Dundee - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Episode 1
Brolga is a man with an unusual family - he is 'mum' to almost 30 kangaroos. From his sanctuary near Alice Springs, Australia, he cares for his brood and spends his days rescuing and raising orphan joeys. Inside the tin shack Brolga calls home are the most recent additions to his mob, Rex and Ruby. Tiny and fragile, they need constant care, and it is up to Brolga to provide them with everything they need - food, love and even a makeshift pouch. Out in the sanctuary, female kangaroo Ella has a joey outstaying his welcome in her pouch, and there is a run-in with Roger. Once a helpless orphan, he is now the mob boss, and even Brolga has to watch his step.

Episode 2
It is a busy week for Brolga as he embarks on the tricky art of toilet training orphan kangaroos Rex and Ruby. Fellow kangaroo carers in Alice Springs come up with innovative ways to look after the orphans in their care, from Elvis, a plucky little orphan who will not stay put, to Lick Lick, who has being taught to use a baby toy as physiotherapy. Brolga takes part in a radio interview to raise awareness of his work, but ends up answering questions of a more personal nature. Meanwhile, out in the sanctuary, he turns detective to find out why mob boss Roger is in such a bad mood.

Episode 3
It is an exciting time at the sanctuary as Brolga discovers that one of his kangaroos has had a baby. He and Cynthia give some older kangaroos their first taste of freedom as they try to get them ready for release, but they will have to catch them first. Rex and Ruby's training takes a big leap forward as Brolga lets them into the backyard for the first time and teaches them how to hop - with mixed results. Plus Brolga meets troublesome tearaway Rocky, a wallaby with an attitude who is creating havoc in Anne-Marie's home.

Episode 4
Having agreed to take on Rocky the wallaby, Brolga has to build him a habitat from scratch. He sets out to create a mini mountain but when a truck full of boulders arrives, Brolga quickly realises he may have bitten off more than he can chew... There's a drama at dinner time for orphan kangaroo Ruby, and Brolga has to act fast to prevent an emergency. Still tucked up in his incubator and cared for by Cynthia, tiny orphan Mark reaches more milestones, and Brolga lets the joeys out for their first night-time hop.

Episode 5
Love is in the air at the sanctuary, as Brolga spends time with a woman who has fallen for him and his family of kangaroos, and fellow kangaroo carer Anne-Marie looks after Stewie, a sorry looking joey who is itching for a bath. A feral dog attack at the sanctuary sees Brolga patrolling the fenceline to protect his mob, and the next day he finds a casualty in the form of a joey which has been abandoned by its mother. As winter draws in at the sanctuary and the shack becomes overrun with mice, Brolga makes a life-changing decision.

Episode 6
After years of living alone in a tin shack, it is all change for Brolga as he moves in with his girlfriend. Rex, Ruby and latest orphan Bluey are introduced to the rest of the mob for the first time, and are put in their place when the older roos make it clear there is a pecking order. Brolga decides to run an open day for visitors at the sanctuary, but has to round up mob boss Roger first. And after months of caring for them, Brolga decides that his orphans are ready to move on.
