Old House, Newlywed Kitchen

Chicago newlyweds are in for a treat when their vintage home is brought up to date with a brand new kitchen. A window is closed over and a pocket door installed to shift the layout of the kitchen to make room for larger appliances, additional storage and countertop space. Craftsman style cabinets in both sandalwood grain and barn red provide endless storage for the couple while light Silestone countertops bring in a clean, new look. Woven flooring is installed for both cushion and style and a DIY radiator cover helps hide an eyesore. The couple construct a DIY spice rack that fits in their cabinet door, complimenting their love for baking while keeping the kitchen organized. A DIY light fixture made of wine bottles that prices for $500 in stores, but is made for 50 bucks! Lastly, Alison gives the kitchen a special touch framing Chicago-themed post cards and adding glass shelving to house the homeowner's handed down salt and pepper collection.
