Knight Errant Limited (1959-1961)
The enthusiasm is palpable, yet there don't seem to be enough causes to channel it into anymore. This sentiment might resonate with the modern young person and could very well be what inspired Adam Knight, the protagonist of Granada's new hour-long series 'Knight Errant '59,' to pursue his new venture. Adam Knight, portrayed by John Turner, is a young man who, after dabbling in various occupations, decides he wants a job that blends interest and excitement. He dubs himself Knight Errant and establishes a business to assist anyone in any situation. There's certainly no shortage of opportunities for him, and Adam, akin to a modern-day Sir Lancelot, finds himself continuously occupied. Assisting Adam is Liz Parish, a former newspaper columnist who left her position to become his indispensable partner. Liz embodies chicness, charm, wit, wisdom, sophistication, warmth, and quick wit. She's as ready to lend a helping hand as she is to deliver a clever remark. Her style reflects the fashion of 1959, occasionally venturing into 1960. Naturally, she is stunning. Rounding out the regular team in the Knight Errant setup is Peter Parker, played by Richard Carpenter. He's an earnest young writer absorbed in creating a major work. Full of the typical "angry young" affectations, Peter lacks one crucial thing: money. He's held various positions—from espresso bar attendant to office cleaner—that keep him afloat financially and, as he puts it, leave his mind free for more significant pursuits.
