It's Paris 1919. Returning from the war, Louise Kerlac witnessed the murder of her father's deputy, a former police commissioner, committed by state agents, in which she is being accused. In order to exonerate herself, Louise decides to disguise herself as a man, assumes the identity of her twin brother, and takes his place in the criminal police where he obtained his assignment.

Determined to stop Céleste's killer, Louise accepts the help of Doctor Paul, an eccentric forensic scientist, and Roman Ketoff, an attractive maverick journalist, taking the risk of endangering the secret of her double identity.
