Having been kicked out by his wife, Brian Drake heads for the country where he intends to live the solitary life of a hermit. But hermits are not expected to collect people en route.

Episode 2
Brian Drake is still heading for the country with Tommy, a cured pyromaniac, in tow. On the way they collect two more kindred spirits, Angie, a hitch-hiking girl, and Maurice, a ball-walking postman.

Episode 3
Drake has found his dream home in the country, but his ex-wife is still determined to make life difficult for him. She sends Ansell, a private detective, to hunt him down.

Episode 4
The day of the ball-walk test run, and Drake and company find that another 'outcast' is all set to join them.

Episode 5
Drake and his companions find that their peaceful way of life is threatened by a visit from a near neighbour, the glamorous and unpredictable Mrs Kelly.

Episode 6
An invitation for the Lame Ducks to attend Mrs Kelly 's once-in-a-lifetime party. But when Angie decides to leave for the coast Drake and the others realise just how lost they are without her.
