Les Guignols de l'info (literally "The News Puppets"), sometimes simply called Les Guignols (Puppets), is a satirical French television show of puppets, broadcasted since August 29, 1988 on the channel Canal+. A parody of a newscast, the show is a caricature of the political world, the media, personalities or more generally of French society and the current world. Originally created to compensate for the shutdown of the "JTN des Nuls", the show was part of an idea by Alain De Greef who wanted a French equivalent of "Spitting Image". Les Guignols de l'info have an important place in French popular culture: the repetitive nature of quotations and stereotypes of puppets have made the features of caricature more popular than the person himself.
