Libre de Reír - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Tiempo + Tragedia = Comedia
It's the first week of the comedy workshop. We are introduced to three different groups of students in prison: women, men, and LGBT+. Comedian Sofía Niño de Rivera is nervous, and so are the inmates, as they take their first crack at comedy. While we learn about the stand-up basics and set goals, we witness a male friendship that has helped two inmates survive behind bars.

Amor Canero
It's the second week. The students turn in their first assignment: a comedy set listing five things they hate. Unexpectedly, love becomes the recurring theme of their sets, as we learn the unconventional ways love connections are made inside the jail. Comedian Coco Celis visits the workshop to give feedback.

Hay líneas que no se cruzan
With five weeks to go until the final show, the students begin to improve their routines. Sofía notices lots of anxiety and helps the students deal with their stage fright. Meanwhile, the male population is having a hard time understanding political correctness when it comes to women and sexuality. This causes tension between Sofía and her class.

Pánico Escénico
One week 'til the final show. As graduation approaches, Sofía reveals surprising news to her students, but she receives an unexpected response. Comedian Daniel Sosa visits the workshop to give feedback.

El Show Final
After weeks of hard work, the comedians graduate from the comedy workshop. Sofía announces the finalists who will leave jail for a day and perform in front of a live studio audience in a theater in the heart of Mexico City. Nerves are never-ending, but there's no going back: it's showtime.
