Andrei Belov, a famous Olympic cycling medalist, is killed in Sochi. Karapetyan, the press and the city authorities are beginning to put pressure on the department, demanding the speedy disclosure of this crime, especially since the examination clearly established that Belov was poisoned. Investigating this case, Reckless uncovers a whole tangle of contradictions and mutual resentments within the team that came to Sochi for training. The coach, his wife, teammates, and the doctor all blame each other, hoping to deflect suspicion from themselves. At first, the investigation's suspicions focus on Belov's main competitor, the second number of the Zemtsov team, but Dima soon learns that Lena Burlakova, the girlfriend of the deceased, is secretly in the city. Semenov is almost certain that the gang he is catching has left Sochi, and Nazarova learns that Chernyshev, a friend of the deceased Perelovich, disappeared in the city some time ago.
