Laura learns that Almonzo risked his life to help the Blind School pay its rent to the building owner in Sleepy Eye and sits by his bedside until he recovers. At Nellie and Percival's wedding, Charles informs Laura and Almonzo that they can get married once Laura turns seventeen.
