Princess Jiuyou of Hao Ling (known as Xiao Yao) endured a hundred years of suffering, losing her identity and appearance. She settles in Qing Shui as Wen Xiaoliu, with no place to go or support. Her life changes when she saves Tushan Jing, and they develop feelings for each other. Xiaoliu also befriends the nine-headed demon, Xiangliu. Eventually, Xiaoliu encounters Xi Yan, who has been searching for Xiao Yao. After many challenges, her true identity is revealed. Xi Yan sacrifices his love for the throne, Xiangliu dies honorably, and Xiao Yao helps Xi Yan achieve greatness before living a peaceful life with Tushan Jing.
