MasterChef - Season 1

Famed chef Gordon Ramsay conducted a nationwide search for the best home cooks in America, and through a series of exciting elimination rounds, will turn one of them into a culinary master. Joining Ramsay on the judging panel are restaurateur and wine maker Joe Bastianich, owner of some of the most-celebrated Italian restaurants across the country; and Graham Elliot, the youngest four-star chef in the U.S. and mastermind behind Chicago's first "bistronomic" restaurant. In the series premiere episode, home cooks from all over the country present their signature dishes to the three judges in the hopes of being awarded the coveted MASTERCHEF apron, which guarantees them a spot in the next round of competition.

In the search to find the best amateur home cook in America, only a few more hopefuls have the opportunity to present their signature dish to judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot. Some chefs wow the judging panel with their raw talent and many fall flat, but one thing is for certain: all of the home cooks endure an intense grilling. Thirty home cooks have made it this far in the competition, but only half of them will remain by the end of tonight's episode. The Top 14 contestants enter the MASTERCHEF kitchen for the very first time and begin on a journey that will change their lives. The losers return to face the pressure test, where they must name as many ingredients they can from a table of fresh farmers-market finds.
