Matt leaves for Texas to help Sharon, an old and dear friend who is at her wit's end. Sharon thinks somebody's trying to kill her and she has no idea why anyone would want to kill her. Houston's old adversary, Elgin Cody, lures the detective to Texas. There he wants to kill him and replace him with a doppelganger. The reason: Houston owns a property that Cody also suspects contains oil.
