Lawyer Igor Sokolovsky is the son of a rich and influential father. After a stormy party that ended in a skirmish with the police, Igor is punished: his father deprives him of his maintenance and sends him to serve in the police under the command of Colonel Pryanikov. Despite a conflicting acquaintance with colleagues in the department, captain Vika Rodionova, "major" Igor manages to solve the first crime. The second shocks him: the guy realizes that his closest friend Stas is to blame for the death of a nine-year-old girl...

The task force of Victoria Rodionova is investigating the death of a girl who worked as a maid in a rich house. Old acquaintances help Igor to understand who is behind the crime. During the investigation, Sokolovsky stumbles upon information about the death of his mother. Through the fault of Igor, department employee Danila Korolev may fall under an internal investigation related to the loss of service weapons.

Igor helps Korolev return the gun. However, it turns out that a man was killed with this weapon the day before. Igor tries to fix the situation by studying the life of the victim, and finds a way out. However, his continued stay in the department is in question. Studying the archival file about the death of his mother, Sokolovsky discovers that some of the information has disappeared.

 Igor decides to stay in the department, despite the general rejection. He helps to detain arms dealers and gets shot while covering Rodionova with himself. For Korolev, this is a reason to be jealous, for Victoria - to look at the major with different eyes. Sokolovsky and Korolev together detain Alpinist, who shot at Igor. Igor goes to investigator Karasyov, who was in charge of his mother's case, and finds him dead.

Igor is suspected of killing Karasyov. Out of jealousy, Korolev is silent about the existence of an important witness. Sokolovsky finds Karasev's killer, but he dies before his eyes, without revealing the name of the customer. Igor has reason to believe that his father is keeping something back about the past.

Igor is actively working with the task force. Two corpses were found, the cause of death was severe dehydration. Rodionova and her team are looking for a connection and possible witnesses to the crimes. At night, an unknown person climbs into Sokolovsky's apartment. In an attempt to catch up with the criminal, he narrowly avoids a bullet. A friend and partner of his father, Ignatiev, tells Igor about the existence of a certain note.

Korolev gets into a fight in a bar - now he is charged with murder. Gingerbread forbids employees to interfere in this matter. Victoria Rodionova asks Igor to help find the real killer and conduct his own investigation. As a result of a successful operation, Rodionova neutralizes the criminal and saves Igor's life. Sokolovsky Sr. confesses to his son that he really once had an affair with another woman. Igor is trying to find out the main thing - where was his father on the night when his mother died.

Igor is familiar with the circumstances of the death of his father's mistress - his mother and investigator Karasev died in the same way. It turns out that Sokolovsky Sr. came to the woman a few hours before her death. From a conversation with Pryanikov, Igor understands that his boss is hiding something. Vika Rodionova's team is looking for a serial killer. During the detention, Igor misses the criminal. Sokolovsky-st. takes his son on a fishing trip and introduces him to Dato, a man from his past...

After the shot, Dato disappears. Igor comes to his father's former bodyguard, who made an appointment for him. Rodionova's group is investigating an attack on gas stations. Sokolovsky is trying to infiltrate a gang of imaginary policemen, but as a result of an unsuccessful operation, Vika is taken hostage. Pryanikov confesses to Igor that after his mother's death, his father's fingerprints were found on the scalpel...

The department is investigating the brutal beating of a man. Witness testimony leads Rodionova's team to a gang that sells amphetamines. Igor notices that he is being followed. He arranges a tough interrogation for his father.  Ignatiev comes to  Igor, he promises to reveal the past of Sokolovsky Sr.

At night, crying Lera breaks into Igor's house. She asks for help: her brother Stas, who owes a lot of money, suddenly disappeared. Vika and her team join the search for Stas. Igor is trying to catch up with his pursuers. In a conversation with his father, he accuses him of being involved in the death of his mother...

Lera spends the night at Igor's house. The next morning, an unknown person tries to kill him. Leroux is kidnapped. It becomes obvious that the killer is somewhere nearby. Igor continues his investigation and finds important documents...
