Alex genießt es, zurückgezogen von der Welt in ihrem Dachzimmer zu lesen. Interessiert widmet sie sich einem Buch über Buddhismus und probiert spielerisch aus, ob etwas buddhistische Gelassenheit nicht als Überlebensstrategie in ihrem Alltag nützlich sein könnte. Und tatsächlich: Im Umgang mit ihrer Familie ist die Heitere die beste Methode, sich vom schief hängenden Haussegen nicht beeindrucken zu lassen. Auch im Umgang mit der nervenden Claudia lässt sich Alex' Buddhismus-Strategie zunächst Erfolg versprechend an. Als Claudia sie bittet, eine Fotoserie für den Geburtstag ihres Vaters zu schießen, überwindet Alex ihren üblichen Widerstand gegen ein so ganz unkünstlerisches Fotoprojekt, wobei ihr nicht nur die Erprobung des Buddhismus den Anstoß gibt, sondern auch ein ordentliches Honorar, das Claudia in Aussicht stellt.
