Paloma experiences love for the first time after Renato rescues her from a runaway horse. However, she knows she must return to Porfirio, although everything changes when she receives the news that she will soon be a widow.

Feeling jealous that Renato is taking control of her father's estate away from her, Bárbara looks for a way to assert herself over him, but only ends up revealing her lack of experience with life in the countryside.

Renato tries to follow Porfirio's orders and get along with Bárbara, but she, consumed by pain and jealousy over him taking over her estate, makes sure to make his life impossible.

After the bandits' attack, Renato begins to believe that Porfirio has an unknown rival and urges everyone to distrust everyone until they discover the person's identity.

Gustavo discovers Porfirio's plans involving Bárbara and orders his men to eliminate her at any cost, since he cannot allow her to take the estate away from him.

After Renato's heroic act, Bárbara begins to feel that she is only safe by his side. Paloma grows resentful with jealousy and tirelessly looks for a way to separate them, while Renato tries to suppress his love for the "young mistress."

Bárbara learns about the new position her father secured for her and finds herself torn between her dreams and her desires, as she is already falling in love with Renato and has no intention of being separated from him.

Consumed by jealousy, Paloma decides to take Bárbara's place in the countryside, intending to follow in her footsteps and make Renato fall in love with her. Meanwhile, Porfirio discovers that his wife's heart belongs to another man.

Things at the Cruz estate begin to spiral out of control when Rodrigo appears, while Dalila tells Bárbara that she is Renato's woman. Meanwhile, Paloma once again argues with Porfirio over what is happening between her and Renato.

Renato begins to suspect Gustavo's plan to take over the Cruz estate. In turn, Gustavo realizes that his godson is not defending Bárbara out of justice, but because of something that will make him reevaluate his loyalties.

Worried about the growing distance between her parents, Bárbara seeks out Paloma hoping to find answers, but she becomes furious upon learning that while her father is on the verge of death, her mother abandoned him to rediscover herself as a woman.

Dalila tries to warn Paloma about the terrible fate of those who fall in love with Renato, but Paloma is only interested in finding a way to convince him to accept her love, no matter the cost.

Paloma confesses to Rosa that meeting Renato has given new meaning to her life and that she has no intention of letting him go, no matter what Bárbara or Porfirio do about it, because her time to experience love has finally arrived.

Consumed by the pain of losing her father, Bárbara blames Paloma and swears that she will not rest until she makes her pay for her betrayal.

During Porfirio's funeral, Renato discovers Gustavo's true plan and confronts him, demanding that he leave Bárbara and Paloma alone, remaining faithful to the promise he made to his former boss to protect them.

Bárbara and Paloma argue about the future of the estate, but everything falls apart when they learn Porfirio's final wishes. Meanwhile, Renato discovers that a plague is threatening the harvest.

Worried about losing Renato, Paloma asks Rodrigo for help to keep him away from Bárbara, but he takes it too seriously and turns to Gustavo to find her a replacement.

Brian's arrival to take charge of the estate enrages Renato because he knows it is meant to sabotage everything. Later, Renato confronts Gustavo and tells him that he knows he is behind the sabotage against the estate.

Bárbara confronts Gustavo and exposes before everyone the unfair contract Porfirio signed, trusting his friend. Upon hearing this, Renato leaves behind years of loyalty and decides to support her, not only out of love, but also for justice.

Bárbara desperately tries to save the estate, but Gustavo has already made sure to prevent it: neither she nor the property qualify for a loan that would allow them to pay off the debt inherited from Porfirio.

While Bárbara struggles to keep the estate afloat, Georgina works to ruin Renato's reputation. In town, everyone talks about the opportunistic manager who is supposedly trying to take advantage of the defenseless mother and daughter.

After leaving for town, Bárbara does not return to the estate and her car is left stranded. Completely worried, Renato questions the employees.

Bárbara begins to believe the rumors about Renato and fears she may have made a mistake by giving him her love. As a result, she decides to set boundaries and demands that they maintain a strictly professional relationship.

Chelo steps in and confronts Paloma, demanding that she pack her things and disappear from Renato and Bárbara's lives.

Paloma begins to feel like she is in the way in her own home and even proposes a plan to Renato to save the estate. Meanwhile, El Trenza starts digging into Renato's life.

Paloma is rushed to the hospital as an emergency. While Bárbara refuses to see herself as a victim, Gustavo takes advantage of her desperation by offering her a plan that will allow her to keep Renato.

Thanks to Dalila's sacrifice, Renato learns that his enemies have joined forces against him and, in order to protect Bárbara, he even considers leaving Hacienda Cruz.

Gustavo uses the attack on Hacienda Cruz to launch a smear campaign against Renato, making him suffer the rejection of those he loves before ultimately ending his life.

Living peacefully in the capital, Bárbara feels torn between two paths: on one hand, she wants to pursue her dreams; on the other, she cannot forget the peace she found working the land alongside Renato and honoring her father's wishes.

Dalila and Paloma are frantic when they learn that Renato has been kidnapped, and they do everything they can to find him. Meanwhile, Bárbara searches for answers, fearing that he may not be the man she believed him to be.

Despite the accusations, Gustavo pretends to be the victim and refuses to admit that he was the one who freed El Trenza, knowing that the truth would put all of his dirty dealings at risk.

Renato confronts El Trenza to stop him and send him back to prison. Once safe, he admits that hiding his past from Bárbara was a serious mistake, as his silence only fueled doubts and suspicions about his true intentions.

Now that she knows about Renato's past, Bárbara has even more reasons to distrust him. However, she receives advice from Lopecito that changes her perspective, reminding her that everyone is capable of changing.

Renato feels guilty when he realizes that Paloma has become one of Bárbara's greatest burdens. Since he cannot help Bárbara in the way she wishes, he decides to try to heal the relationship between mother and daughter instead.

Hoping to finally get them out of her life, Bárbara reveals to Paloma and Rodrigo that she has asked Renato to marry her. The argument quickly escalates until she admits how much she enjoys making him pay for breaking her father's heart.

After realizing that Bárbara truly is in love with him, Renato decides to accept her marriage proposal. Meanwhile, Rodrigo and Paloma must decide whether to keep trying to separate them or accept their relationship and pursue their own happiness.

Rodrigo and Paloma make one last attempt to convince Bárbara that she is making a mistake, but she believes she will only be safe with Renato. Meanwhile, Renato agrees to marry her, determined to prove that their marriage will truly be one of love.

Bárbara and Renato make it to the altar, but not before facing a scandal caused by Paloma, who decides to humiliate her daughter by showing up dressed in mourning.

As Dalila and El Trenza prepare their attack, Bárbara and Renato raise their glasses and defy their enemies. Meanwhile, Paloma refuses to give up and vows to tear them apart.

Before El Trenza launches the attack, Dalila tries to convince Renato to leave Bárbara, convinced that she will bring nothing but death and sorrow into his life.

Fear of losing Bárbara pushes Paloma to her limit, but when she sees her recovering, she realizes that she must stop fighting against her daughter. Has her obsession with Renato finally come to an end?

The Cruz estate is in danger once again, but this time it is not Gustavo threatening it, but the bank demanding repayment of the debt. Faced with Bárbara's determination, Renato decides to turn to the only person who can save them, Paloma.

Thanks to Gustavo's carelessness, Georgina begins to piece the puzzle together and is furious when she discovers the identity of his lover, unable to forgive the humiliation of having been the laughingstock of the company.

Gustavo's plans fall apart. Bárbara prevents the foreclosure, Renato files a lawsuit against him, and Paloma turns against him. Even so, he refuses to give up on his ambition to take over the Cruz estate.

Bárbara demands that Renato stop wasting his time trying to save Dalila, but he refuses, convinced that she could be the key witness in his case against Gustavo. He chooses to move forward, even knowing it could cost him his marriage.

While Bárbara tries to free herself from Gustavo's abusive contract, Renato risks his life to save Dalila, even knowing it could cost him his marriage.

Gustavo is furious to see that Bárbara has overcome every obstacle he put in her way. Fearing justice, he orders Paloma to be killed, knowing that if she talks, everything will be lost for him.

Although she still harbors resentment, Bárbara cannot help worrying about Paloma. Seeing her fight to recover and plead for her happiness, she is forced to admit that her mother has truly changed.

Gustavo carefully stages the crime scene to frame Renato, determined to make use of El Trenza, even if only as a corpse.

Fed up with the injustices, Arnaldo and Paloma speak out and call on the townspeople to rise up against Gustavo and put an end to the reign of suffering he has imposed.

With no way out, Gustavo unleashes his final act of revenge by setting the Cruz family estate on fire. Amid the flames, Bárbara risks her life to save Paloma, proving that the love of family comes before everything else.
