When Eliza's father dies, he leaves her penniless in a time where marriage is the only option for financial security. But the headstrong Eliza has an ace up her bonnet - her father's business, a detective agency. But it's Victorian London and, to operate in this man's world, she needs a partner.

Eliza and Duke strike up a fiery relationship as they team up to solve puzzling crimes in the murkiest depths of 1880s London.
Season 2
In Season 2, London's first-ever female detective, Eliza Scarlet continues to grow her private detective firm with the somewhat reluctant help of her friend (or more-than-friend?) police detective William "The Duke" Wellington.
Season 3
Eliza Scarlet is immersed in solving new mysteries in Victorian London as growing competition from a rival detective agency creates new problems. Has someone new caught the eye of Inspector William Wellington, the Duke?
Season 4
In Miss Scarlet and The Duke Season 4, Eliza has taken over the business of Nash & Sons (not that he has any sons) and things are not going entirely smoothly, although help comes from some familiar sources. Outside of work, her relationship with William "The Duke" Wellington builds towards a looming decision that will shape both their lives.
Season 5
Miss Scarlet
In the new season, Eliza's agency is thriving and her professional life is on a successful path. On the personal side, however, Duke has now been away in New York for several months and Eliza is forced to make a difficult decision. Meanwhile, a new Detective Inspector comes to Scotland Yard and Eliza must navigate building a relationship with him if she's going to continue having access to police resources. All these changes and decisions beg the question: Can Eliza Scarlet have it all?
