A grim discovery in the woods pushes the investigation into a new phase. As police and volunteers gather at the site, Sarah anxiously waits for confirmation of whether the body discovered there is connected to Katie's disappearance.
Although the investigation continues, new evidence begins to cast suspicion on several people in Saint-Michel. Sarah becomes increasingly convinced that one of the town's residents may know more than they are admitting.
Her suspicions lead her to investigate local contractor Mark Jones, whose movements on the night Katie disappeared raise troubling questions.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Virginie Taylor follows a different lead as Xavier, recovering from his injuries, finally agrees to talk. His testimony reveals previously hidden connections between several figures involved in the case and raises further suspicions about the Morvan family.
As arrests begin to follow, the fragile alliances within Saint-Michel start to collapse. Personal loyalties are tested, and long-buried secrets begin to surface.
Virginie also continues to investigate the disappearance of Odile Lambert, whose case now appears increasingly entangled with Katie's. As she revisits evidence from years earlier, inconsistencies in the official account begin to emerge.
While the police close in on the truth, Sarah refuses to give up hope that her daughter might still be alive. With time running out and the investigation reaching a critical turning point, Virginie follows a final lead that could reveal what really happened in Saint-Michel - and who has been hiding the truth all along.
