Cándida es una atractiva mujer que quiere dejar atrás una vida oscura, pero la inercia fatal coartará su pretensión. Cándida es una prostituta a punto de retirarse ella solo quiere un hogar, un hombre a quien cuidar y que la cuide, sufre los abusos de Víctor su pareja, que además administra a otras mujeres bajo el negocio de la prostitución. Cándida conoce a Don Ángel, un hombre mayor, dueño de una ferretería, que le ofrece un hogar y que deje de lado su oficio, pero Víctor amenaza a Cándida con matarla o a Don Ángel si no sigue ofreciendo su cuota pertinente; Cándida se ve obligada a volver a prostituirse, es descubierta por Ángel, este le reclama y corre de la casa a la mujer. Bajo la presión y en un arrebato de coraje acuchilla a Don Ángel; posteriormente también acuchilla a Víctor, quien llegó al lugar del homicidio, por miedo a que la delate. Cándida Rubio fue condenada a 50 años. "Una vida en la calle...Con la esperanza de un hogar...Nadie la detendrá". El capítulo argentino se llamó Cándida, esposa improvisada y lo esteralízo Cecilia Roth.
