Season 1
The Catholic detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) solves his cases in Protestant Toronto at the turn of the century in a highly unconventional way for his time: with the help of fingerprints, blood samples, precise analysis and searches for clues at the crime scene, he always succeeds in convicting the guilty party or parties, sometimes much to the astonishment of his superiors. With the help of his subordinate Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and the forensic pathologist Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), Murdoch achieves successes that ultimately even convince Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) of his abilities.

Season 7
Detective Murdoch investigates the sudden death of bicycle racer Joe Fenton. Murdoch was himself a participant in the race trying out his newfangled gear shifting device but Fenton was the favorite having won several recent races. Fenton's manager, Chippy Blackburn, was seen giving him a potion and they suspect he may be may be fixing races. Dr. Grace however is having considerable difficulty finding a cause of death and with Dr. Ogden's assistance performs her first brain bisection. It leads her to believe he suffered a cerebral aneurysm leading to a brain hemorrhage. The discovery of an injection mark in Fenton's right arm leads to a different conclusion however. Meanwhile, Julia prepares to sell Darcy Garland's house but finds that his younger brother Leslie living is living there.

Det. Murdoch investigates the murder of Richard Dawkins who was beaten to death at the dinner table by two masked men just as he was about to make an important announcement to his business associates. Since nothing was stolen Murdoch's new boss, Inspector Hamish Slorach, calls the killing an assassination. Dawkins was rumored to be selling his chandlery business. The harbor master says Dawkins was anything but a saint and the police should look to the seedier side for a solution to his death. Const. Jackson is badly beaten by two thugs which seems to confirm Murdoch's suspicion that the men who beat Inspector Brackenreid are the same ones who killed Dawkins. When they find a dead woman on the shore, Dr. Grace determines she was clubbed to death the night before the attack on Dawkins and was manacled before she died. Meanwhile, suffragettes recruit Julia to their movement and she is joined by Emily Grace.

Season 9
From within the walls of a maximum-security prison to the outer atmosphere of the earth, Season nine explores new worlds and mystifying cases. 1903 begins with Detective Murdoch, Dr. Julia Ogden, Inspector Brackenreid and Dr. Emily Grace still reeling over the arrest of Constable George Crabtree.
Then a shocking death brings great change to the world of Station No. 4. Through it all, Murdoch and his colleagues continue to solve the unsolvable, coming face-to-face with everything from an impossible bank robbery to a threat to destroy Canada, confronting each case with wit, wisdom and innovation. The team also welcomes a new addition, Rebecca James, a recent arrival in Toronto and young woman of humble origins who Dr. Ogden takes under her wing.
Season nine upholds the series' tradition of bringing historical figures to Toronto, including the likes of Mark Twain, Lucy Maud Montgomery and Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier.

Season 10
Murdoch Mysteries now in its 10th season and marking 150 episodes of the series, continues to follow the heroes at the Toronto Constabulary as they solve crimes inspired by Canadian history and international celebrities of the early 20th century.
Season 10 kicks off in grand style with a two-part mystery set in the world of Toronto debutantes, whose coming out is interrupted by the 1904 Great Fire of Toronto, one of the seminal events in the city's history. Following the opener, Murdoch and the rest of Station Four find themselves embroiled in cases both fantastical and historical. From a murder involving the Olympic Champion Canadian soccer team, an investigation into a man wrongfully jailed, the introduction of H.P. Lovecraft (the master of the macabre), a wronged woman who goes on a serial killing spree, to the death of a prize pooch at a dog show, there is very little rest for Murdoch, Ogden, Brackenreid, Crabtree, James and the rest of Station Four. And as all this goes on, Murdoch tries to deliver on his promise to his wife and build her the home of her dreams. Or is it his nightmare?
No matter what changes the future holds, Murdoch and the team will be there to solve each fresh mystery with the tenacity and ingenuity that fans of the series in Canada and around the world have grown to love. The series is filmed on location in Ontario.

Detective Murdoch and Dr. Ogden travel to Vancouver Island to visit Murdoch's brother, RCMP officer Jasper Linney. There, they investigate a murder connected to an archaeologist who has uncovered an ancient Indigenous settlement, leading to encounters with the Songhees and Haida nations. Meanwhile, the Brackenreids are offered an investment opportunity that may not be all it seems, and Crabtree and Higgins plan a ski holiday with their sweethearts Nina Bloom and Ruth Newsome that may be more dangerous than expected.

Watts is called to a property in front of which a Japanese couple have lit a fire so that the spirit of their deceased daughter may rest in peace. According to them, the man who lives in the house is responsible for their daughter's death. In accordance with their religion, they have burned their daughter's body, which complicates the investigation.
